Holiday FAQs
At Mad About Food we pride ourselves on the quality of service we provide throughout the year. During the busy Holiday Season we'd like to suggest the following guidelines that will help ensure that level of service extends through all your gift giving.
Holiday Hours
9am to 5pm, Pacific Standard Time, Monday through Friday
Saturday hours to be announced.
You're welcome to try us outside these hours in December – we'll probably be here making baskets!
Please leave a detailed message outside these times or if the line is busy, and we'll return your call as quickly as possible.
Same Day Orders
Call us, we'll do our best, but same day orders can't be guaranteed and may incur an additional $15.00 Rush courier charge.
Last Orders – Canadian Destinations
- December 17, 2008 - Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes
- December 18, 2008 - Saskatchewan and Manitoba
- December 19, 2008 - Alberta and British Columbia
Last Orders - US Destinations
- December 10, 2008 – The last day to place an order for US delivery. We will do our best to ship the order by Wednesday, December 12 to ensure your gift arrives for Christmas.
- Please allow plenty of lead time for US-bound gifts – US customs can take time to process shipments and we're unable to predict delivery dates.
US Customs/Duty Charges
If customs or duty charges are incurred for US shipments they will be billed back to you. Please note that these charges can be hefty. We do our best to ship your US-bound gifts so they don't incur these charges, but if duty is assessed, we're invoiced by the US government and are unable to avoid the additional charges.
Last Orders – Overseas Destinations
- December 3, 2008 - last day to place an order for overseas delivery.
(Air shipments to Africa and Central/South America must be sent no later than Mon., November 26, 2007)
- Due to the additional paperwork and time required to prepare Overseas orders, please give us at least 48 to 72 hours notice to ensure we can meet these deadlines.
- Please note that a parcel sent by air overseas weighing just under 2 Kg (4.4 lbs) will cost $44.75, plus fuel surcharge.
- If you want your parcel tracked, expect to pay substantially more, even for small packages.
- We use Canada Post's International Parcel service because it's both cost and time effective.
- We cannot guarantee the arrival of your package.
Holiday Closures
We will be closed from Sunday, December 23 through December 29, re-opening December 30.
Perishable Items
Throughout the year we're able to offer, for Vancouver deliveries only, cheese and fresh fruit. We purchase these items on an as needed basis from local purveyors, including Les Amis du Fromage (we think they have the best cheese shop in Vancouver) and the fruit purveyors at Granville Island.
During the busy holiday season there just isn't time to shop for these items, nor can we know for sure the courier companies we use will be able to ensure the timely delivery these perishable items require. Therefore, we're unable to include these items in your holiday gifts.
